World Day of Prayer 2009
The afternoon one in St Margaret’s RC was really busy and folk took part in the welcome and in the linking of arms and in prayer and then refreshments and fellowship. We had the help of Re-Act - A Christian drama group and also a singer to lead the singing. In fact she sung solo
for the first verse of 2 hymns that some folk were unsure of. Unfortunately some of the ‘voices’ rushed away so I wasn’t able to get a
picture. The evening service was in North Parish for the first time. Well they went to town they had a map of the world on the table as folk cam into the church. Then in the sanctury there are 6 windows and they had decorated them 1 scottish and the others the continents. I believe that it took them 3 days to do. We had bullrushes for our Moses bit. One of the congregation also made a banner of the map of PNG. We also had our own banner which we had at all the services. Fewer people there because it was a wee bit out but the message from the minister & the fellowship
were wonderful and the congregation joined in with the welcome, linking of arms and prayers.
The Children’s service went great also we had 30mins of craft, refreshments and then 30mins for the service with 5 kids taking part. The girls were only 7, 7 & 8 and the boys were both 9& 10. While the kids were talking there were slides of PNG children being shown behind them. The kids all helped with the ‘Bird of Paradise’ and the ‘Baby Moses’. They also made paper flowers and during the service they brought them out and put them on a table with a globe of the world, and got them back at the end to take home. The collages are going to do the rounds of the churches taking part.
God Bless
Barbara
