Beath and Cowdenbeath North Church Praise Evening
BCNC held an informal ‘Contemporary Praise’ evening on Sunday 15th March. A good number of people came along, including visitors from other churches. Our Praise band - Pb2… led the worship which included songs like “Come now is the time to worship” and “Praise is Rising”. We introduced a new (to us anyway) song – Stuart Townend’s “With a prayer” which was very enthusiastically received and sang. In fact, the singing was wonderful the whole evening and it felt really great to be part of a group simply worshipping our God. Pb2… had the opportunity to play through a quiet ministry time with one of their favourite Hillsongs – “Still”. They also performed Chris Tomlin’s “Happy Day” at the end which we will definitely invite the congregation to sing with us the next time. As that particular weekend was also Comic Relief weekend, our offering of £194 was donated to this. David, our minister, told some jokes and funny stories as “something funny for money”. His talk was about taking off our masks and letting Christ be seen in us.It is good and important to have the opportunity to sing old hymns and songs but it is also good for us to get to know all the exciting new songs that are being written at the moment. Stuart Townend, Tim Hughes, Brian Doerkson, Chris Tomlin, Graeme Kendrick are but a few of the new song writers and they are constantly writing new material. If you ever have the opportunity to see (and hear) any of these people live with their own bands – take it. The band is already thinking about our Easter Praise Service on Easter Sunday Evening and we look forward to leading everyone in praise then. Gill Beattie (Pb2…)
