BCNC held an informal ‘Contemporary Praise’ evening on Sunday 15th March. A good number of people came along, including visitors from other churches. Our Praise band - Pb2… led the worship which included songs like “Come now is the time to worship” and “Praise is Rising”. We introduced a new (to us anyway) song – Stuart Townend’s “With a prayer” which was very enthusiastically received and sang. In fact, the singing was wonderful the whole evening and it felt really great to be part of a group simply worshipping our God. Pb2… had the opportunity to play through a quiet ministry time with one of their favourite Hillsongs – “Still”. They also performed Chris Tomlin’s “Happy Day” at the end which we will definitely invite the congregation to sing with us the next time. As that particular weekend was also Comic Relief weekend, our offering of £194 was donated to this. David, our minister, told some jokes and funny stories as “something funny for money”. His talk was about taking off our masks and letting Christ be seen in us.It is good and important to have the opportunity to sing old hymns and songs but it is also good for us to get to know all the exciting new songs that are being written at the moment. Stuart Townend, Tim Hughes, Brian Doerkson, Chris Tomlin, Graeme Kendrick are but a few of the new song writers and they are constantly writing new material. If you ever have the opportunity to see (and hear) any of these people live with their own bands – take it. The band is already thinking about our Easter Praise Service on Easter Sunday Evening and we look forward to leading everyone in praise then. Gill Beattie (Pb2…)

April 22nd at 7.30pm marks the beginning of the Contagious Christian faith sharing course being held at Gillespie Church hall in Dunfermline.
Allan Vint, Mission Development Officer is going to present the material, which has been used by thousands of churches around the world to great effect. Over the past months the analysis of NCD results has clearly indicated that there is a ‘fear factor’ in sharing issues of faith with family and friends. This course is designed to help overcome the fear.
The course last for 6 weeks and there will be a cost of £1 per evening to help cover costs. To sign up go to www.dunfermlinepresbytery.org.uk and follow the signup link.

The people of Beath and Cowdenbeath North Church are taking the opportunity to share a bright and colourful message with everyone who passes by at the North Church in Perth Road. Faced with a bare hoarding hiding building work, the Kirk Session decided to commission artist, Hazel Gray, a member of the congregation, to come up with a design that would cheer up the day of everyone who sees it. The result is an eye catching rainbow and stained glass design with a simple but profound message: “God loves you!” The minister, David Redmayne, said, “We are delighted with the colours and design of the picture – it says, in a very simple way, everything we want to share!” Meanwhile the building work at the North Church, largely financed by a bequest from former member, Mary Salmond, will provide a new meeting room and improved facilities which will be opened later this year. The builders are Hatrick-Bruce of Milnathort.Construction picture available to view at www.beathandnorth.org.uk
